Overnight Oats
Jan 2021
An easy awesome tasty breakfast that is ready for you when you wake up in the morning.
Prepared in 5 minutes the night before and put in the refrigerator, this non-cook breakfast prepares itself over night and is ready for you at the crack of dawn.
In the morning, remove from fridge, stir and top with your favourite healthy toppings and its ready to enjoy! It's that easy!
Here's a simple recipe:
- ½ cup rolled old fashioned oats
- 1 cup milk of choice
- ¼ cup yogurt
- a dab of maple syrup, eh! [ optional ]
- a sprinkle of cinnamon [ optional ]
- ¼ cup topping of choice [ add next morning ]

Combine the oats, milk and yogurt in a bowl, a mason jar or a cup. Place in fridge for at least 2 hours, however, overnight works best.
It's best to use plain old fashioned rolled oats, not quick oats. Quick oats will get soggy when soaked with milk, however, in a pinch quick oats will do. I personally prefer a mixture of the two, one scoop of large flake oats and one scoop of quick oats. It gives you that perfect texture of oatmeal.
Mmmmmmmmm! Perfect!
Overnight oats are meant to be eaten cold, however, if you prefer it warm, just place in the microwave oven for 1 minute.
Choice of toppings can really make this a special treat, let your imagination run wild. Fruit, berries, etc. If you are going to use dried fruit like raisins, these can be put in when you initial mix your oaks and can sit overnight.
Also think of flavours that go well together, like peanut butter and bananas, peanut butter and jam, apple and cinnamon.
The combinations are endless!
YUM! YUM!
